Will you help me?

August 25th, 2010 admin No comments

My goal with this blog is to provide you with info that you can use to improve your health and fitness. I get great feedback from my personal training clients and from other members at our fitness center regarding topics for this blog. From that feedback, I’ve written about making you healthier, leaner, stronger, and more energetic. However, the one thing I’m looking for is more feedback from you, my readers.

Can I ask for two minutes of your time to give me some feedback?

Leave a short comment below to tell me the one thing you would like to know about fitness, weight loss, functional strength, toning, reshaping, eating better, making your workouts more fun and effective, or any other topic on your mind.

I look forward to your feedback!

Text or work out…choose one and only one

July 23rd, 2010 admin No comments

Put away the cell phone!

Put away the cell phone!

You can text.

You can work out.

You can’t do both. You have to decide. Try to do both and you’re just wasting time. Please get off the treadmill/elliptical/whatever machine and give it to someone who really wants to do something.

You’re driving everyone nuts. Please stop.

Hang up. Put the phone away. Get a real work out.

When you’re done, and only when you’re done, send me a text and tell me how well your workout went. Just don’t do them both at the same time, please.

The end of the world?

December 31st, 2009 admin No comments

Ten years ago, the world was in a panic thinking that everything was coming to an end.  Y2K was here and it was all people could talk about.  What was going to happen?  Would the world be plunged into chaos because computers would melt down, going haywire because they couldn’t handle four digit years?

I still remember watching TV on New Year’s Day 2000 and seeing this commercial.   Y2K didn’t stop this guy from living his life.  He didn’t let the imminent end of the world ruin his fitness.  What will you be doing to make 2010 your best year ever?

Mike Ehredt - Project America Run

Mike Ehredt - Project America Run

My friend Mike Ehredt is first and foremost and all-around great guy, and second a world class athlete.  He’s pretty humble and would never tell you that, but he’s accomplished some pretty impressive athletic endevours in remote places all around the world, including the Marathon des Sable.

In May 2010 he’ll be undertaking his biggest and most important adventure to date.  He’ll be running across the USA in honor of fallen veterans of the Iraq War.  Mike will be placing a flag each mile for each soldier whose lives and dreams were sacrificed.

Visit the Project America Run website, learn about this increible journey, and please consider making a donation to allow Mike to honor our national’s veterans.

Thanks Mike!

Drop the flops and show your feet some love!

May 10th, 2009 admin No comments

Summer’s coming and so is flip flop season. I have to admit, they drive me nuts. The shuffling, the flapping noise. The foot problems.

That’s right. Those flip flops that you love so much and are all the rage are causing problems. Just Google “flip flop foot pain” and you’ll come up with all sorts of articles.

Think about this…

Would you sleep every night on a mattress that’s less than 1″ thick? How would your back feel? Why subject your feet to the same torture? Think of the pounding that your feet endure every day, all day long. Show ‘em some love and unless you’re at the beach, drop the flops.

Here’s a good article from WebMD.

You’re getting smarter too!

A recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine determined that physical activity, in addition to making your body healthier, increases both the volume of brain tissue and the ability of the brain to function properly.
